Welcome!

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) is a martial art and combat sport that focuses on grappling, and especially ground fighting, with the goal of gaining a dominant position and using joint-locks and chokeholds to force an opponent to submit.

As most real fights end up on the ground, BJJ's main aim is to takedown an opponent and use proper technique and leverage to counter strength and aggressiveness.

This fighting style is proven to be one of the most effective known. This is evidenced by it's success and prominence in such limited rules, no-holds-barred, submission wrestling and mixed martial events as UFC, Pride FC, Vale Tudo and others.

Pedro Sauer receives 7th Degree Black Belt (Red and Black belt)

Professor Pedro Sauer, the head instructor of the school Nexus BJJ is affiliated with, has officially received a Red and Black belt from Relson Gracie. Often described as the “most technical instructor in the world” Pedro was the first person in the world to receive a black belt without the Gracie name, and now becomes one of only ten people to have ever received a 7th degree black belt.

The whole team at Nexus BJJ congratulates Pedro and wishes him well in his trip to Brazil for the award ceremony held by Helio Gracie. Click here for more information on Pedro’s fantastic achievement.
